Tyler Hovestadt

Encounters is the downtempo electronic project of Bay Area producer Tyler Hovestadt. The sound sits at the intersection of ambient, downtempo, and live percussion - built around the push and pull between organic instrumentation and electronic production.

Releases include A Path Beyond (2022), A Path Beyond Remixed (2023), Circuit Breaks (2024), Purple Thumb (2025), and the full-length album Veil of Echoes (2025). An upcoming collaboration album with Bluetech, Elemental Resonance, is currently in the works.

Encounters has played Astronox, Infrasound, and Snowta, with shows across the US and UK including Jam Jar in Bristol, The Den in Portland, Black Box in Denver, and DNA Lounge in San Francisco. Direct support for Desert Dwellers, Phutureprimitive, PheuZen, Cosmic Trigger, and Mantis Mash, with shared bills alongside Carbon Based Lifeforms, Bluetech, Kaya Project, Koan Sound, Dillard, Somatoast, Erothyme, Entangled Mind and more. Upcoming dates include OZORA Festival 2026 in Hungary and Astronox 2026 in Austin, TX.
